North Downs' Professional, Mike Homewood, has earned the congratulations of his peers after being named PGA South Region's Professional of the Year.

 

Homewood took the honour as the region brought the curtain down on the season at the inaugural GYH Destination awards at Wentworth Golf Club.

 

The 41-year-old was one of five winners, which saw players also nominate best coach, best assistant, best player and best fundraiser.

 

Homewood took the plaudits for his tireless work in 14 years as Head Professional at the Surrey club.

 

"Mike always personifies professionalism whilst out on the course with amateurs, putting their golfing needs before his own, and has helped the PGA stage various events at North Downs" said the winner's citation from the organisers.

 

"In recent times he has assisted the PGA in running the qualifying round for the Powerade PGA Assistants' Championship and the Glenmuir Club Pros, for which we are extremely grateful.

 

"He is, and always will be, a man whom up and coming professionals should look up to and learn off as Mike Homewood is the consummate PGA Professional."
